Good Juice for Diabetics

One of the first things you'll hear if you're diagnosed with diabetes is, "No more juice!" But the latest research indicates that one kind of juice may just be highly beneficial for diabetics, regardless of its whopping sugar content. This juice already is being touted as heart-healthy all over the world, and now adds diabetes support to its impressive résumé. And if you haven't already guessed, this rising superstar is pomegranate juice...and it seems like the only thing it's not good for is white T-shirts.

Israeli researchers found that even though pomegranate juice has the same basic sugars as other fruit juices, it seems to work in a different way inside the body - actually protecting those with diabetes from developing atherosclerosis. Turns out that this bright red beverage cuts that risk in half, a real boon as diabetics are highly prone to hardened blood vessels. All it took was 50 ml of pomegranate juice per day for three months to see the protective effect.
